How I Got into Crypto & Investing

My cryptocurrency journey started in 2011—long before Bitcoin (BTC) was discussed in the media and on YouTube channels. At the time, I was primarily interested in Litecoin (LTC) mining and set up my home computer to mine LTC. That’s when I stumbled upon Bitcoin.

My first crypto purchase wasn’t as easy as logging into an app and clicking “buy.” Back then, I had to physically go to the bank, make a deposit, and wire money to a Canadian exchange called CA Virtex (which was later acquired by Kraken). That’s how I bought my first Bitcoin at $50 USD.

Like many early investors, I didn’t fully grasp how massive Bitcoin would become. I sold my BTC after it jumped to $750 USD, thinking it couldn’t go higher. Turns out, I was very wrong. Live and learn, I guess.

Since then, I’ve bought, sold, and traded multiple cryptocurrencies, experienced both the highs and lows of the market, and learned some valuable lessons along the way. In the early days, people criticized me for investing in crypto, but now, they ask me what to buy.
